Christian Shields

We live in an era where “instant grat” is practically a way of life. People seem to base their lives around how quickly they can get something and how much of it they can consume before leaving it behind and moving on to the next “instant grat.” This is what we’ve become accustomed to in the 2020s. But instant grat has no soul. It has no longevity. It has no real redeeming qualities.
Upcoming Texas based hard rocker CHRISTIAN SHIELDS records music with soul, longevity and most importantly redeeming qualities. Shields may be a bit younger than most of his contemporaries but those contemporaries are also his inspiration. He grew up listening to their music, letting it shape him, both as a person as well as a striving musician. “When I was 11, I saw a video of Kiss performing in Houston, TX on September 2nd 1977,” Shields recalls. “When I saw Paul Stanley jumping around, strumming chords and pointing at the girls, I decided I wanted to do that.”
SHIELDS released his debut album, ‘This is Rock ‘N’ Roll’ in 2020 to regional appraise, playing shows in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and California and winning over everyone he met along the way. The album was done before I had band. “It was just the producer, Kevin Gutierrez, my guitar player Marshall Benson and myself.”
In early 2025, Christian went back into the studio … not to record an album, rather to do one single, “Fall Like Rain,” his current release, which brings us back to the “instant grat” situation. Christian explains, “people don’t add albums to playlists. They usually add a song or two they like. You also don’t need to tour in support of an album anymore. Because of the internet, everything is relevant at all times and not mutually exclusive.” SHIELDS takes the instant grat myth and blows it to pieces. Opening with all the subtlety of an atomic explosion, “Fall Like Rain” tears the roof off in true arena rock fashion all the way through. As for the song, “it’s real and an experience we’ve all had. After it all falls apart we sometimes feel lost and hardened. You pick up the pieces and decide where to go,”
The video for “Fall Like Rain” was directed by Tom Flynn and shot in New York City. “We filmed it on a soundstage in Long Island. The video shows flashes of what’s it’s like to feel that breakup and loss of a relationship. Like walking through purgatory and just wanting to speak to the other person but they are not there.”
Rock ‘N’ Roll is a young man’s game and CHRISTIAN SHIELDS is that young man.
Rob Hussey Of Cyanide Interview

Cyanide from Las Vegas
Brand new album 21 Gun Salute, streaming everywhere October 17th, 2025!
Las Vegas’ own Cyanide is here to bring back the glory days of heavy metal. To party like it’s 1989. For fans of Motley Crue, Van Halen, Metallica, Def Leppard, Kiss, Ratt, Judas Priest and Guns ‘N Roses among other legendary heavyweights. Their 11 song debut album Lethal Dose is full of high octane, sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll fueled tracks.
From the uptempo opener Bitches to Blame to sleazy album closer Whole ‘Lotta Trouble (dedicated to the legendary Sherri’s Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada), this album brings back the spirit and attitude of classics like Too Fast for Love, High ‘N Dry, Out of the Cellar and Appetite for Destruction.
Tracks like Drinkin’, Pump it to Me (featuring John Zito of Count’s 77 on slide guitar), Lookin’ for a Good Time, first single What Comes Around Goes Around and the classic power ballad It’s a Long Road prove this band has what it takes to take 80’s hard rock into the next generation.
Cyanide has wowed audiences with its original songs as well as spot on covers like Queen of the Reich, Ten Seconds to Love, and even obscure classics like Kix’s Girl Money, while opening for such legends as Skid Row, Krokus, Stephen Pearcy of Ratt, Steel Panther, Doro Pesch, Grim Reaper, Trixter, Rough Cutt, Enuff Z’Nuff, Bulletboys, Black ‘N Blue, Tuff, Femme Fatale, Cheap Thrill and more.
Now in 2025 Cyanide has emerged with a new album called 21 Gun Salute. They recently signed with Kivel Records and the album will debut worldwide on all streaming sites October 17, 2025. You can order the CD now at https://www.kivelrecords.com/store/product/cyanide-21-gun-salute/
Cyanide mastermind Rob Hussey and acclaimed producer Ty Sims have created a timeless hard rock album that has been sorely missing in this world of computerized auto tune drivel.
With a powerful new metal edge that keeps their core 80’s hard rock sound while also bringing a fresh new heavier approach, the new Cyanide album is sure to please old and new fans alike. Tracks like Social Media Disease and As the World Burns show a much heavier, deeper, more mature side of the band. The old school glam and sleaze of tracks like Slip N Slide and Get up and Dance will have you standing on your seat with your fists in the air. The ballads Never Let Me Go and cover of the Climax Blues band classic I Love You are truly beautiful pieces of music, with soaring guitars and gorgeous melodies.
The first single, 21 Gun Salute, is a deep moving tribute to the troops of the United States of America. A song about unity in a time of division, this song is poised to put Cyanide in the major leagues.
